Thermistor
A resistor designed to change resistance strongly with temperature.

It provides a sensitive, inexpensive temperature signal over a limited range.
In normal English
NTC thermistors decrease resistance as temperature rises; PTC types increase. Their response is more nonlinear than an RTD.
Why would I use it?
Use it for temperature sensing, compensation and protection in suitable ranges.
