PID controller
A controller that continuously adjusts an output to hold a process near a target.
IN ONE SENTENCE
It uses proportional, integral and derivative action to react to error and process behaviour.
In normal English
PID is common for temperature, pressure, flow and speed control. Correct tuning determines how quickly and smoothly the process reaches its setpoint.
Why would I use it?
Use it when ON/OFF control is too crude and the process needs stable regulation.
THINK OF IT LIKE…
Like a careful driver constantly adjusting the accelerator to maintain exactly the right speed.
