2-wire sensor
A sensor powered through the same two wires that carry its output.

Power and signal share one circuit.
In normal English
Common examples include 4-20 mA transmitters and some proximity switches. Because the sensor needs power even when 'off', small leakage currents or voltage drops can matter.
Why would I use it?
Use it to reduce wiring or when the receiving equipment is designed for two-wire transmitters.
